This design-build project entailed the renovation of Algonquin College's main cafeteria in Building D. The existing cafeteria dated back to 1971 and had long ago exceeded its lifespan. New refrigerators, freezers, grease interceptors, flooring, walls, lighting and kitchen equipment were required. In May 2002, construction began with the installation of a Temporary Servery to serve customers throughout the construction period. Approximately 9,000 ft2 of kitchen space including the servery, was completed in August of 2002. A smaller 1,800 ft2 cafeteria space was also created in Building B complete with 4,000 ft2 of new seating and acoustics treatment in the Rotunda.
