Bank of Nova Scotia - Kanata Branch

This project was a one-storey, structural steel building clad with insulated metal siding and aluminum windows. Acting as construction managers, PCL and the mechanical/electrical designers provided budgets. Structural, architectural and site development work came well within our budget, however mechanical and electrical work exceeded budgets dramatically. Value engineering reduced mechanical and electrical costs to a point where total costs for the project were less than budgeted.

The project completion date was fixed at May 24, 1996, however the start was delayed from November 1995 to February 1996 and mechanical and electrical contracts were not finalized until the end of March. The challenge for completion of work (mechanical, electrical and finishes) in eight weeks was achieved by careful site planning and expediting of materials.
