Project Features/Highlights

The project is located in downtown Ottawa with access to the site restricted to only two (2) parallel streets of one City Block, making material handling a challenge. With the effective use of weekly subtrade meetings and biweekly look ahead schedules, the project team has been able to successfully plan and organize material deliveries and building  perimeter access for  activities such as shoring, masonry, window and precast installation.  Although the project has a single contract, ownership of the apartment block will be transferred to a second client upon completion.  Due to a complex cost sharing arrangement, both clients participate in the construction process, each with their own set of consultants.  These elements have added challenges to the contract administration of the project that the team has successfully overcome to date.

Project Description

This project consists of demolition of two (2) existing buildings and construction of  new six storey, sixty (60) unit apartment block.  The construction also consists of 22,000sf of new grocery store area complete with sixty (60) stalls of underground parking.  Renovation of 20,000sf of an existing grocery store.
