This project consists of 282,000 square feet of upgrade and expansion to this aging facility in downtown Ottawa (64,000 square feet of new space and 218,000 square feet of renovation). The focus is to provide barrier-free accommodations to 348 patients in complex continuing care while creating a more pleasing, comfortable and functional living environment. The project includes a new atrium, a five-story addition linking the ends of three existing inpatient wings, and extensive upgrades to the existing facility. The new atrium, created from an existing exterior courtyard, will provide year-round indoor amenity space as well as a new elevator and stair tower. The addition will improve accessibility on all inpatient floors while taking advantage of spectacular views of the Ottawa River landscape.
