This 47,500 s.f. project, phase 2 of the Canadian Business Centre (originally built by PCL in 2003), consisted of a 2-storey slab-on-grade building with a concrete/structural steel superstructure. The building is linked to the existing manufacturing facility at both levels, which in turn is linked to phase 1 of the centre (5-storey office building). The exterior envelope is composed mainly of metal panel with strip windows, topped with a series of multi-level flat roofs, and is highlighted by a curved curtainwall façade facing The Queensway to the south. The structural houses a 200-seat auditorium (which was doubled in size at the mid-point of construction) a 450-seat cafeteria, a large fitness centre, including massage tables and a multi-purpose court located on the 2nd floor, and numerous meeting and training rooms. The audio-visual components of the facility’s auditorium allow for state-of-the-art broadcasting and communication capabilities.
