Project Features/Highlights
new seven-floor, 180,000 sf Support Services Building. demolition of existing loading dock and Engineering building.
Project Description
The first phase of this project created a new underground loading dock and access ramp. This new North Loading Dock serves as a vital hub for the Toronto Hospital as well as other hospitals in the downtown area. Construction involved rerouting the hospital's main storm and sanitary sewers, two relocations of the high pressure steam supply and providing a new 13.8 kVa service and substation. In addition to this, a new medical gas service was provided servicing four area hospitals. Construction of the 180,000 sf New Support Services Building, consisting of seven levels above ground with one basement level, began after completion of the new loading dock and ramp. This facility features a dietary services department with coldrooms and an eight-bay loading dock on the basement level, a 30-bed ground floor emergency department, five floors of shelled space, and a sixth level mechanical penthouse. The exterior finishes include limestone, brick, curtainwall and punch windows.
