Project Description
Located in the centre of the University's Fort Garry Campus, it is a key point of interest for both students and staff. The project includes the construction of a new 13,500 S.M. building and the 10,000 S.M. renovations to the existing facilities, some of which were built in 1914. Upon completion the new and existing buildings will be connected and serve as one complex. PCL is performing the concrete structure with our own forces. The structure consists of over 5000 cubic meters of cast-in-place concrete. The formwork systems being utilized include the PCL Hi-Flyer and Core systems. Currently, PCL in conjunction with the owner, architect and authority having jurisdiction, are exploring the potential of accelerating the renovation portion of the project. This work was originally scheduled to start in October 2005 following completion of the new addition. The proposed schedule involves the structural renovations to commence October 2004. This will allow all structural and roofing work to be complete prior to October 2005 giving PCL the ability to commence interior works immediately. There is the potential for over three months of schedule acceleration based on our proposal.
