HSC Critical Services Redevelopment Project

As the largest tertiary teaching hospital in Manitoba and the designated Trauma Centre for the province, the CSRP will provide the HSC with the ability to meet the evolving health care needs of its patients in the future and it is critical for the recruitment and retention of health professionals.

The addition consists of three floors and a basement level which will be connected to the existing building at all levels and will incorporate:

• New adult emergency department and new pediatric emergency department, including a shared ambulance garage
• New pediatric intensive care unit
• New adult surgical medical intensive care unit
• New surgical (adult and pediatric) operating rooms, with an additional operating room accessible from the emergency rooms dedicated to trauma cases
• New post-anesthesia care unit (adult and pediatric)
• New coronary care unit
• New central sterilization and processing facilities
• New radiology procedure rooms
• New burn unit

This new 286,000 S.F. facility will include state-of-the-art medical equipment and will feature several innovations in hospital care that are among the most complex and beneficial in modern medicine.
