Project Description
The Headingley Correction Centre project was a hard bid lump sum contract with an aggressive schedule. The project consisted of adding 160 maximum security cells to an existing building.
The new addition was laid out in two separate wings with administrative and building systems spaces joining them. Each wing is made up of five pods with sixteen cells in each pod, eight on the main floor and eight on the mezzanine level. The concrete addition is approximately 6,400m2 (68,000 S.F.) with state of the art detention systems, including 130 plus surveillance cameras. Ninety percent of the mechanical systems are located in a crawl space to avoid rooftop sightline interference.
