Ottawa Hospital Regional Cancer Centre

This project consists of 4,500 sm of new addition adjacent to and a subsequent 3,750sm phase interior renovation of the existing Ottawa Regional Cancer Center at the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus).

The addition is a three level cast-in-place concrete structure designed for a future seven story addition capacity.  It is founded on sensitive shale using conventional footings and rock anchors.  There will be four radiation treatment bunkers at ground level all utilizing high density concrete and other radiation shielding materials.  The building will be clad with clay brick, stone, curtain wall and pre finished siding.  Two full height atria and a green roof are additional features.

The phased renovations take place once the hospital staff have moved into the new addition.  The work includes new interior examination, waiting and administrative spaces.  It also includes the construction of a new radiation treatment bunker (Brachytherapy treatment area) complete with high density cast-in-place concrete walls founded on micro piles.  This significantly invasive renovation work will be completed within the functioning hospital.
