Burnhamthorpe Library

PCL is providing construction management services to the City of Mississauga for the redevelopment of the Burnhamthorpe Library.  The project consists of a 14,000 s.f. addition and complete renovation and improvements to the existing 40,000 s.f.  library, renovations to the theatre and extensive site work and landscaping.

The Burnhamthorpe Library Redevelopment is an Infrastructure Ontario project which requires a fixed budget of $12 million and a non-negotiable construction completion date.  All projects of this nature must be completed by March 2011 in order to qualify for the funding.  To ensure the dates are met, PCL is involved in the early aspects of design and planning stages to help the team achieve important milestones.

Unique aspects of this project include maintaining services for the I.T. Disaster Recovery group during construction.  To accommodate this, PCL created a PCL created a separate entrance for the I.T. group ensuring mechanical, electrical and life safety systems are maintained and to keep their space functioning during construction.
