Project Description

This project consists of several separate hospital renovations and additions located at two separate campuses. Component 01 (CAHS OR Expansion) was completed in January 2008. Component 02 (Diagnostic Imaging Project) is scheduled for substantial completion October 2008. Component 03 (Periop Tower Project) is currently in budget and design development stages. Excavation, shoring and site services are currently underway for component 03. PCL is engaged in a Construction Management contract with St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton to manage the overall construction project.

The CAHS project consisted of a 5,100 s.f. renovation to an existing area of the hospital and construction of a new 20-bay patient recovery area, as well as a 3,000 s.f. structural steel addition to the hospital which included two new ORs and two new clean processing and decontamination rooms.

The Diagnostic Imaging Project consists of the fit out of approximately 30,000 s.f. of the Level 0 space of the existing tower. Included in this space are two new MRI rooms, two new Fluoro rooms, Gen Rads, ultrasounds and CT rooms as well as recovery bays, registration and waiting areas. The space features high level aesthetic design including extensive glass and wood and stone walls and feature murals (wall and ceiling) and focuses on creating a sense of comfort and ease for the patients and staff.

The Periop Tower Project consists of the renovation and expansion of approximately 35,000 s.f. of existing space within Levels 0 and 1 of the existing Mary Grace Wing. This portion of the project also includes the construction of 5 new levels of tower plus an M&E penthouse for a total of approximately 125,000 s.f. of new construction. The renovated and new build spaces are to be used for SPD, ORs and recovery and laboratory and research spaces.
