To the end of June 2008, PCL has placed 32,030 M3 of a projected 34,600 M3 of concrete.  A combined total of 447,000 man hours for PCL salaried and hourly staff have been worked to date.  The project is on schedule for completion for fall 2008.  One of the three tower cranes used on the project was dismantled from site in April 2008 and PCL is in the process of reducing our manpower, equipment and materials onsite as the scope of work reducing and the project heads toward completion.

Project Description

The Foundations and Concrete Structures project is a hard bid project involving the completion of the main concrete structure to house the new water treatment facility at the city ofWinnipeg's Deacon Reservoir.  The reservoir is located outside the city's perimeter highway on Hwy# 207 north of Hwy# 1.  Our contract is run through UMA Projects (CM) Ltd. to the city of Winnipeg Water and Waste Department.  The foundation consists of 2550 driven precast piles in a building footprint of approx. 12,400 M2.  The building has 3 main levels; the foundation level is at elevation 231.000, main floor level is at 239.000 and the mechanical room level is at 245.000.  The roof elevation is at 250.000 and is comprised of precast double tee units supplied and installed by others.  We will be self performing 35,000 M3 of cast in place concrete on the main structure as well as installing three new access bridges over the existing aqueduct piping.  PCL's contract also includes the supply and install of all reinforcing steel, miscellaneous metals embeds, waterproofing and mechanical embeds.
